‘It means the world’: UCF fans travel win or lose

UCF Football superfan Jan Garcias said she and her daughter Britt love traveling to see away games.

She said the entire trip excites them, from arriving at the airport and seeing all the black and gold at the gates, to meeting new people and visiting new cities.

“New stadiums, new adventures, and most of all, being there for the team we love so much,” Garcias said.

After being away for so long due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Britt needed a full year of UCF, Garcias said.

UCF football works relationships and the Central Florida area to its advantage

UCF football made local recruits a priority for the 2022 recruiting class, a focus that's been lacking in previous years.

“You know, as someone that's had to cover this state the past few years, I always felt like UCF was kind of underachieving locally," 247Sports recruiting analyst Andrew Ivins said in a press conference on Monday. "I don't want to say they turned their heads toward kids in their backyards, but they didn't make that a big priority."

UCF baseball unveils new fan experience, Love Shack at John Euliano Park

Fans can enjoy UCF baseball in a new way with friends, trucks and grills at the Love Shack.

The Love Shack is a new section for fans to enjoy Knights' baseball games in the outfield at John Euliano Park. The new experience opened on the first weekend of the Knights' season on Feb. 18.

“Students and fans alike are welcome to come out, drink a beer and grill a hotdog and enjoy their Knights play some baseball,” said Dylan Rappaport, senior integrated business major.

Breaststrokes, sprints and cradling: Knight Nation calls for more sports teams with Big 12 entrance

Until UCF puts together a swim team, alumna Maria Barnaky said her 9-year-old son will remain a fan of the University of Florida's swimmers instead.

"My monthly beg to @TerryMohajirAD (is) to give serious consideration to adding a swim team at UCF," Barnaky tweeted. "I just spent a painful amount of (cash) purchasing Gators merch for my oldest bc of his love for swimming and having a race at UF next month."

UCF alumni react to contract extension with Nike, football uniform changes

Peter Ng likes the look of Nike's college football uniforms, but the UCF alumnus doesn't think the company is giving Knights the proper treatment.

“Typically, their uniforms are crisp and stand out without being tacky,” Ng said. “We are obviously not Oregon, so we're not going to get the star treatment. But before this contract renegotiation, Nike only made us one alternate set, and it was the old Knight head logo on the shoulder pad that we wore against USF in 2017.”

Student athletic fee plays important role with UCF's move to the Big 12

Austin Schlusemeyer understands the student athletic fee is a casualty of business, especially with UCF's move to a bigger conference.

“We are supporting fellow students by giving them the resources they need in coaching and facilities to thrive at UCF and in the Big 12 moving forward,” said Schlusemeyer, junior information technology major.

The athletic fee for UCF students is $14.32 per charged credit hour, according to UCF Student Account Services.
